THE POWER BOX:
A couple of words on the Power Box. We find we rarely use the fine power adjustment. We have learned what each of us likes and the gradual increase of power. The box has two red buttons that shut off the power to the circuit above the button. Be careful!! If you hit one button, all the power that was going to both circuits suddenly goes to the remaining circuit. Unless pain is the objective, reduce the power rather than use the buttons. We also found that the graduations on the frequency and pulse knobs are counter intuitive. The ten level is the slowest level of pulse or frequency and the low numbers are the closest to a smooth vibration. No biggie once you get used to it but it is the opposite of what we expected.
This is probably the best place to talk about “hot spots” and “gaps”. Hot spots are a place where the electrode is more conductive than others. This is generally caused by unequal lubrication. I found with the base ring, if the brass connector directly contacts skin, I can either get a hot spot or the control circuitry gets all confused. If you feel a greater sensation in one place, re-lubricate. I use a small pad of facial tissue under the brass connector to keep it from contacting my body directly. That seems to solve the problem. We also notice hot spots occasionally with the clamps. Re-lubricating generally helps. Gaps are created when an electrode does not contact the body around its full circumference. We experience this with the sparkler when used around the clit or as a mid-ring on the penis. To solve this, you just re-adjust the electrode placement to assure full contact.

LUBRICATION:
We have gravitated toward using olive oil for all the external toys. For the internal toys, the anal and vaginal electrodes, we use electro lube (item #75). We insert it in the rectum with a Monistat applicator. We make a bit of a scene of it and typically loosen the sphincter with a gloved finger lubricated with electro lube. When the sphincter has relaxed, we put about a 1” of lubricant in the Monistat applicator and insert it about 2” into the rectum. For the vaginal plug, we just rub the lube on the toy and insert. We have tried Vaseline, KY jelly, Astroglide and several other lubricants (PES strongly discourages use of Vasoline or baby oil as lubricants). The electrolube has the advantage of being water soluble so it washes off with soap and warm water. Vaseline takes forever to get rid of. KY jelly has glycerin and also tends to dry out during a session of more than 20 min. (Most of ours are). Internally, KY works fine as a lubricant but, the glycerin acts like a glycerin suppository and stimulates the bowel. A word about the anal action, we tried rinsing the lower bowel by squirting several ear syringe fulls of soapy water in the rectum and find that is unnecessary as little comes out except the water. We also tried olive oil as an anal lube. That works fine, but the olive oil runs out of you during the play session.
Even with the electro lube, in a long session, the lubricant will liquefy from your body temperature and tend to run out. We put a towel on the bed for a session and just toss it in the wash afterward.

PUBIC HAIR:
We find it is not much of an issue except for the sticky pads. My wife tends to keep a short Mohawk and I tend to keep my balls shaved from a line about a half inch above the base of the penis, so hair is usually not in the way of the toys. The stickie pads are another matter. We have used them on the outside of the anus, the clit, the base of the penis, and the back of the scrotum. The pads provide a really nice mild stimulation, but, when applied to a hairy area, they pull hair when being removed. Hair also stays on the pads requiring a lot of work to remove. I did let my hair grow out for my annual physical and I did not notice any real difference except some pulling of hair, particularly with the base ring. It did not seem to affect conductivity or effectiveness of the electrodes.

Note from moderator: I have edited this just a bit for grammar and spelling as well as added notes regarding PES item number and names for clarification. I have also added warnings from PES as some of this couple's practices we do not recommend due to safety concerns.
